The following are the proposed rules for D3 Hardbody Racing, effective January 1, 2015.
These rules are preliminary and the final version will be released on 1-1-2015.
PROPOSED D3 HARDBODY RACING REGULATIONS
D3 HARDBODY racing regulations (proposed version 1-1-2015)
New racing class to be added January 1, 2015
Group C, IMSA GTP
BODY
1. May use any 1/24 – 1/25 scale plastic hardbody, Group C or IMSA GTP body as listed online
at this website: d3hardbodyracing.proboards.com/thread/204/gtp-group
2. May flatten sides below body belt line, but not beyond vertical.
3. May not alter wheel wells.
4. Must have 3-D driver/interior, chassis not visible through interior.
5. Aero devices from kit or scratch built to resemble real car (documentation may be requested)
6. Must use front windshield and rear windows from kit.
7. Body must extend beyond chassis when viewed from above. No part of chassis may be
visible from above and wider than the bottom portion of body. Body side panels cannot extend
beyond vertical.
8. Body must have 3 numbers (preferably located as the 1/1 race car)
CHASSIS
1. May be anglewinder, sidewinder or inline.
2. Must be scratchbuilt using any of the following materials: piano wire, brass/bronze rod,
brass plate. A “small” steel plate reinforcement for guide flag holder is allowed.
3. Maximum chassis width 3.250”.
4. Wheelbase to be determined by center of wheel wells in body (plus or minus 1/16”).
Complete wheel/tire assembly must be visible in wheel well at a point level with axle centerline.
Bodies with side skirt covering wheel well area is allowed or can be removed if it resembles real car.
5. Ground clearance - .050” rear min., .015” front min., measured under axles.
TIRES
1. Tires cannot extend beyond the body when viewed from above.
2. Rear tire diameter, 1.000” minimum, maximum width .700”.
3. Front tire diameter, .875” minimum, minimum width .225”
MOTOR
1. Must use stock (sealed, no tampering) TSR D3, Falcon 7 or Retro Hawk motor.
Note: the Retro Hawk motor will not be allowed for the upcoming Group C/IMSA GTP enduro in 2015.
1980-Present SPRINT CUP NASCAR (TSR D3/Falcon 7 motor)
BODY
1. May use any 1/24 – 1/25 scale plastic hardbody, 1980 thru present NASCAR body.
2. May flatten sides below body belt line, but not beyond vertical.
3. May not alter wheel wells.
4. Aero skirt (if present on body) can be trimmed (up to skirt line on the side panels and front
end of the body). Older bodies (90’s) that do not have this skirt can be trimmed no closer
than 1/8” from the door line.
5. Must have 3-D driver/interior, chassis not visible through interior.
6. Must have kit front and rear bumpers unless supported by photo documentation
7. Aero devices from kit or scratch built to resemble real car (documentation may be requested)
8. Must use front windshield and rear windows from kit.
9. Body must extend beyond chassis when viewed from above. No part of chassis may be
visible from above and wider than the bottom portion of body. Body side panels cannot extend

1. Must use one of the following motors: stock 36D, sealed Falcon 7, Falcon II, TSR D3
or Slick 7 Mini-Brute motor (sealed, no tampering, inline motor configuration only).
2. The following options are allowed for the 36D motor only:
A. Stock Armature can be epoxied and balanced. Commutator can be epoxied/tied. No rewinds
or dewinds allowed (except for the “Modified 36D class” which allows rewinds for special
races such as Talladega Nights, Darlington on the King track).
B. Can change endbell housing. Can use any motor brushes and brush assembly
C. Can use any motor bearings. Must use stock 36D magnets and can.
3. Talladega Nights cars only: these cars are designed to race on the BPR King track. These cars can use any modified/rewound 36D motor.
1946-1956 STOCK CARS
INLINE TSR D3, Falcon 7, Falcon II or Slick 7 Mini-Brute motor
Note: originally, this class was for Falcon II or Slick 7 Mini Brute motors.
Falcon II production ended and the TSR D3 and Falcon 7 motors were selected
as a replacement.

5. Must have front and rear bumpers (can be scratchbuilt) unless supported by photo documentation
6. Must use front windshield and rear windows from kit.
7. Body must extend beyond chassis when viewed from above and bottom view. No part of chassis may be visible
from above or wider than the bottom portion of body, except for bumpers, front, rear and side bumpers (if no running board is used).
Side bumpers can be 3” max. overall width.
8. Top portion of driver cabin cannot have cutout.
CHASSIS
1. Maximum chassis width 3.000” (including outer wheel width, front and rear).
2. Wheelbase to be determined by wheel wells in body (plus or minus 1/16”). Complete wheel/tire assembly must be visible in wheel well at a point level with axle centerline.
3. Any motor configuration (sidewinder, anglewinder, inline).
4. Ground clearance - .050” rear min., .015” front min., measured under axles.
5. Guide flag must not be visible when viewed from above. Body must extend beyond guide flag
when viewed from above.
Front bumper is not considered part of body.

1. Tires can be outside fenders, but no wider than 3.000” overall.
2. Rear tire diameter, .950” minimum, maximum width .700”.
3. Front tire diameter, .850” minimum, minimum width .225”
MOTOR
1. Stock Falcon 7 or TSR D3 motor (sealed, no tampering).
3 C’s (American, front engine, 2 seater sports cars, i.e., Corvettes, Cobras, Cheetahs, Vipers, T-Birds, etc.)

1. May use any 1/24 – 1/25 scale plastic, American, front engine, 2 seater sports car (i.e.,
corvettes, vipers, cobras, cheetah, t-birds, etc.) 1950 thru present.
2. May flatten sides below body belt line, but not beyond vertical.
3. May not alter wheel wells except for having fender flares if on 1/1 racing car.
4. Lower edge of body may be trimmed to within 1/8” of door line.
5. Must have 3-D driver/interior, chassis not visible through interior. Open cockpit cars must have roll bar.
6. Must have kit front and rear bumpers unless supported by photo documentation
7. Must have front windshield and rear window or same as 1/1 race car.
8. Body must extend beyond chassis when viewed from above and bottom view. No part of
chassis may be visible from above or wider than the bottom portion of body, except for side
exhaust pipes (if used on the 1/1 racing car).
