August's D3 Hardbody races saw a new racer and a couple of new race cars introduced. D3 Hardbody Racing welcomes Mike Posato. Mike raced in his very first hardbody race today and did quite well for his first race.
Some new race cars saw action for the first time. TJ Albu raced his new Porsche 917 (body painted by Nesta) while Michael Kale raced his newly built 917. Gonzo raced his new Porsche 911 Turbo for the race time. His car belongs to the Foreign Production Sports class while the Porsche 917's belong to the new Mid-Engine racing class.
Four races were run with the first two races being "Mixed" races. Mark MacVittie won the first race with his Toyota GT-1 (mid-engine class), Eddie Shorer winning the second mixed race with a Jalopy, Ken Dylke winning the third race with his '59 Chevy, and Gonzo winning the final race of the day for GTPs.
Thanks to Debby and Jim Watterson (and Eddie) for their support of D3 Hardbody racing at Buena Park Raceway. Also, a big thanks to Debby and Jim for providing a new 32" flat screen monitor for the flat track. This larger monitor makes it easier for some of the old timers to better see how they are doing during their racing.
Here's the full race/photo report: RACE REPORT
Keith asked the racers to take a vote on the following: For this year's Nats (Oct. 15-16), should we use a Lap Differential for the 3 C's race. For the 3 C's class, there's a 7 lap difference between the convertible and hardtop versions. A vote was taken on whether to use the Lap Differential for this class during the Nats. The vote was highly in favor of using the Lap Differential for the 3 C's race at this year's Nats.
The next D3 Hardbody races on Sunday, September 18th. BPR opens at 10 am, first race at noon.
