Sunday's D3 Hardbody races had a lite turnout just 3 weeks after the Porsche Enduro at BPR.
One of our new racers, Carlos Peniche won his first hardbody race (GTP/NASCAR Racer Handicap). Congrats to Carlos on a good race.
Thanks to Debby and Jim Watterson (and Eddie) for their continuing support of D3 Hardbody Racing at Buena Park Raceway.
Keith made an announcement concerning the recent passing of Craig Gilbert (see the thread entitled: Craig Gilbert 1947-2017) for more info. We are planning on having a memorial race for Paul Sterrett and Craig Gilbert, tentatively on July 30th (5th Sunday). Stay tuned for more info later on the memorial race. I hope as many hardbody racers show up for the memorial race to remember two very important D3 Hardbody racers/supporters, Paul and Craig.
Keith also announced the following: The Retro Hawk motor will now be allowed in all of the D3 Hardbody racing classes. The Falcon 7 will no longer be available (although some are still available, but not at BPR).
There "might" be a Second Chance Porsche Enduro in November, but only if we have at least 7 teams entered. Interested teams should let me know at our June races to determine if we will have another Porsche enduro in November.
Next year's enduro racing class is being finalized. So far, the enduro will "probably" be for "DTM and GT-R" cars. Other classes considered such as Short Track NASCAR and Modified Dirt Track classes may be considered at another time. A final decision on next year's enduro class will be made by our races in June. By the way, the June races have been rescheduled for June 11th (and not on Father's day June 18th).
Bad news, Good news. Our Phanfare race/photo website will no longer be available after May 28th. Phanfare sold its business to "Smugmug". Smugmug has agreed to transfer all of the exisitng Phanfare accounts to their website before the May 28th deadline.
Unfortunately, we will lose the "format" of the Phanfare layout which clearly shows the year by year and month by month race reports. I will miss the simplicity of the Phanfare layout, but the Smugmug website does have some features which Phanfare does not provide. At this time, I'm spending a lot of hours converting our existing Phanfare reports to the Smugmug website. It's a very labor intensive task so it will take some time to complete the transition of all of our Phanfare race reports to the Smugmug website. Be patient and I will have them transferred as soon as possible. In the meantime, let me know if you find any errors/omissions at our new Smugmug website (thanks in advance for your help).
Here's the May 21st race report (on our new Smugmug website): RACE REPORT
IMPORTANT NOTE: Our next races will be held on Sunday, June 11th (not on June 18th, Father's Day). Be sure to show up on the 2nd Sunday in June. We will discuss our upcoming Nats (October) as well as next year's enduro and the possible 2nd chance race in November, so try to be there at BPR if you can.
