The D3 Hardbody rules have been revised (version 8-11-2017). See Post #1 for latest rules.
This update includes addition of the new racing class, DTM-GTR. Also, the Retro Hawk motor is allowed for all hardbody classes (except the Mini Cooper class). The Retro Hawk is allowed in the Nats but no decision yet on using for enduros.
Let me know if there's any questions or "typos".

The hardbody rules have been revised. The Short Track NASCAR class now includes "1949" model year cars. Some of the early model cars (i.e., 1950, 1951) are only available as 1949 model kits (same body, just minor detail changes). The Mid-Engine Audi R8 is now allowed to run in the Foreign Production Sports class. The Audi R8 body is considerably smaller (narrower) than most mid-engine cars and therefore not competitive with the larger mid-engine cars.

The D3 Hardbody rules have been revised to allow the Lotus Europa to race in the Foreign Production Sports (hardtop) class. The Europa is a mid-engine car but is very narrow compared to the mid-engine cars racing, therefore it will be allowed to race in the Foreign Production Sports (hardtop) class. Eddie Shorer is having Pablo (posts on Slotblog) build a chassis for the Tamiya Lotus Europa. Note: Although the Lotus Europa is being added to the Foreign Production Sports (hardtop) class, we may reclassify this car into the 60's Le Mans class depending on its total lap performance in future races.

Keith, How can I register for this forum? Eddie sent me your way as I am planning a Can-Am build for hardbody races at Buena Park Raceway. I'm a member of the Farrout Slot Car Club and I'm a builder but I need to know more about building Articulating Brass Ban” chassis developed by Hector “Gonzo” Gonzalez. He told me you have videos you made about the construcion. I have all the tools to do this but I have mostly been working with 1/32 cars. I started racing 1/24 in the early 60's and at 11 years old I was building my on chassis but I need refreshing. If you can help that would be great!

Steve, I do have a copy of Gonzo's video on how he builds his articulating brass pan chassis. The video is available on USB memory stick and will run on either Macs or PCs. If you're interested in getting a copy of the video, send me an email: 1keithtanaka@gmail.com and I'll email info on the video.
