2014 is almost here and some of us have been talking about possibly having a hardbody enduro in 2014. Enduros are a lot of fun as its a team event and different from our usual monthly races. This thread will be used as a discussion forum for an enduro. I'll also post a poll to see if there's enough interest in participating in an enduro. What type of hardbody cars should we run? How many hours should the enduro be? Any thoughts on an enduro? Keith

An enduro would be fun.. I would suggest the 3Cs, but the newer NASCARS may be more popular since most people seem to have them. Either class is OK with me.
I think 4 hours would be a good length, with 1 minute for lane changes.

I too would like to see the 3C's for aesthetic reasons. However a real NASCAR race is about 4 hours long so that would be authentic.

3 C's is a good class for the enduro. Any 3 C's car? A full field of '53 Vettes seems boring? Maybe just coupes allowed?
Comments?

True, a full field of 53 Corvettes would be very boring. It would be much better to have a variety of cars running. Have to think of some way to have more than one model of car in the race.
Coupes would be good, if there are enough different makes available, or then some other option (?).
I do like the idea of running the 3Cs class.

yea 3cs are probably the fastest and best handling but the nascar class 80 to present offers way more variety of cars, much more colorful and all the decals makes it easy to make realistic and there fast and handle almost as good as 3cs.

I would like to see the endure race use Nascar type cars. Any normal looking car. I think we should follow the current rules we have for nascar but I would like to see Minimun Weight set at 210 grams at any given time it is checked. Infractions cost 10 laps Too even things out and keep the cars reasonably equal? How many drivers? 4 hours is good. I ran a 24 hour race when I was a Kid at a place called Tom Thumb Raceway out in the San Fernando Valley. (Never again) That was about 1963 Hi Johnson from Dynamic Models backed the race. I can remember guys like Jack Garcia, Jim Van Huss, and many more. Like I said never again a long race like that. I ran a hardbody stock car with a kemtron motor in it. I finished 4th I think and used up 3 motors in the process

John, after our Sunday races I had a discussion with Hector and Kenny about the enduro. Since this is our first hardbody enduro we want to have enough time to prepare and organize the event. Thus, the scheduled date has been moved to June 15th (our regular monthly race day in June).
We haven't finalized anything yet about the enduro, but here's some things which we did discuss and somewhat agree on at this time:
4 hour enduro with 8 teams. 2-4 team members each. 15 minute heats. All team members must drive and split up the total enduro time as best as possible. The ideal team size would be 3 members. 80's to 2013 NASCARs, but 8 particular NASCAR kit bodies will be chosen (by our unofficial committee) for the enduro. This will help reduce any significant differences in body weight, dimensions, etc. Enduro signups will determine who gets to choose their car body (first to sign up gets to select one of the 8 appointed bodies, 2nd to sign up gets the next choice and so on until all 8 teams have a car body). Each team will have a different body (one of 8 preselected by the committee). Existing NASCAR rules will be used. Body parts (bumpers, hood, fenders, windows, spoilers, etc.) must be attached to the car at all times in order to race. Repairs always done under green light. We'll have two podiums, a regular podium and a team handicap podium. Also, one Concours winner
We will discuss the enduro at length at our next monthly race on Feb. 16th at BPR. The goal is to finalize the rules for the enduro immediately following our Feb. race. Any ideas, suggestions for the enduro will be welcome!
Keith
p.s. - the NASCAR class was chosen for our first enduro since we've had the most participation with this racing class. Future enduro(s) would probably use another racing class to be determined later.

I LOVE THE ENDURO IDEA!!! And I do like the 80's Nascars as the choice of cars because there IS so many body variables!! WHY force 8 bodies though?? There's lot's of good working bodies!
