A new hardbody racing class will be officially established on January 2015. This new class is for IMSA GTP and Group C (C and C1 classes) cars. Here's a listing of IMSA GTP cars which raced from 1982 to 1993. GTP was the equivalent to the European Group C racing class. Here's a listing of Group C cars (C and C1 classes) The above lists may not be 100% correct. If there are any errors or omissions, let me know. The GTP and Group C cars were all Coupes. Note: LMP cars are not considered for this racing class. Only closed cockpit GTP and Group C cars are legal for this new hardbody racing class.Keith

Keith,
Don't forget all of the Porsche 962's that made up a third of the fields! That Group C list is going to take some work as there were a lot of mfg's/entrants, don't know how many were made into kits though.

Bob, the Group C list includes the Porsche 962 as well as many other famous cars, some of which are available as model kits. The list is long but hopefully I'll have it posted online this week.

FYI, the Porsche 935 is "not" eligible for this racing class. It is not classified in either the IMSA GTP or Group C (C & C1 classes) racing classes. Also, it is 3.5" wide which is too wide for this class (3.25" max. width). The official rules for this new class will be posted in the near future (after the Nats).

Well I have work to do then, I've done 5.21 in a race and high 5.1's in practice on black, need to find about a tenth and a half.

I was there and he did a 4.9 with an unfinished car, no windows, front wheels, interior or finish, all will add weight but his car was fast.

Kieth, are these the same body rules for the Enduro or can we also use open cockpit cars? Also, do you have a date for the Enduro yet?

Jim, these are the same rules as for the enduro on June 28, 2015. This class is strictly for coupes. Maybe sometime in the future we'll have a class for LMP and other similar open cockpit sports cars. The enduro will only allow the TSR D3 or Falcon 7 motors. The Retro Hawk will be allowed for our monthly races for this class only. I will posting more info on the enduro sign-ups which will begin at our next monthly race on January 18th, so stay tuned.
