I still don't want to start at 1:00pm!! There's no reason to if we have racers like yesterday! There was at least 15 racers in the house by 11:00am on Sunday. More will come earlier IF we start the races on time. Once you show everyone that you're NOT going to start on time--then they start showing up later and later. I can help when I'm there set up the races etc so you don't have to try to do it all Keith. I know other racers like Gonzo also know how to input the racers--Vic helped too. Let's try starting on time after the Nats and see what happens! I think a LOT of people don't stay for the last race not because they don't want to race--but because it starts TOO late and they don't want to get home so late on a Sunday!!

Tim, if the racers show up on time then we can start earlier but the past has shown that many do not show up early (on time). The last two months have been unusual as far as racers showing up early but I hope it continues. Besides the racers, we need enough turn marshalls in order to start the first race.
Recently I've been helping some of the new racers before the first race starts so I do need some help from others to get the racing started (setting up the races on the computer). Also, it would help to have someone keep an eye on the clock and help keep on schedule. Many times I get distracted from watching the clock and we run late.
Since we had 3 mains in the NASCAR race, we ran 5 races in all including an 11 entry round robin in the first race. That's 5 hours minimum with a full field in each race (longer if there's sitouts in races). 5 hours does not include a lunch break and only about 5 minutes between races.
In order to finish around 5 pm we need to start the first race at noon and "not" take a lunch break and also have about 5 minutes between races (only time to input the next race on the computer and take podium/pre race photos).
If we go to two race days a month, we can go with only two races per race day. That's why I think we can start at 1 pm rather than noon since we will have fewer races to run. 1 pm has shown in the past to be a more reasonable time to start the first race since some of the racers travel quite a distance to get to BPR. Also, a shorter race day would allow time for a short lunch break (not more than 30 min.).
Perhaps the time has come for others to help run the races in order to get thru a full race day schedule and finish by 5 pm.
We'll need others to help setup each race (input names into the race computer) and keep things moving in order to get done on time each month. I'll try to put together a short printed tutorial (as well as an online version) on how to setup a race on the computer so that anyone can do it. It's not hard to learn, but a printed tutorial would definitely make it much easier to remember how to do it.

I have thought about all you do for our racing; helping others, loaning cars, preparing your own cars, setting up the races, etc. That's an awful lot of work and I thank you. I like the idea of starting earlier, 12:00 noon at the latest, and minimizing time between races and I'll try to help in some ways. You should be able to have time to race your own cars instead of race directing, etc. so often.
One thing, in my opinion, we could do away with is the "mulligans" as they take up time and I feel anyone that has car trouble ...well that's racing.
I'm not sure which would work out the best, a more rigid on-time schedule for one day per month or having two race days per month. One race day would have more people there on that day to race and marshal. Two race days would allow a more relaxed pace for each day but the attendance would likely vary ?

It's time to try changing the race day schedule as our December races did not have enough turn marshalls to have the 3rd race. Of course, having our December races 4 days before Xmas probably kept some of the racers away.
For our January 18, 2015 race day, we'll try the following schedule:
1st Race: Combined Race, starts at noon. If there are not enough racers for the first race, we'll start the next race (Mixed Race) at 1 PM.
2nd Race: Mixed Race, starts 15 min. after conclusion of first race.
3rd Race: 80's-2015 NASCARs
We usually have some racers leave after the end of the NASCAR race, so we'll make it the last race of the day so we have enough turn marshalls for the first two races.
Any comments?Keith

Lets try this proposed format and see how things turn out. Also, if the guys could arrive earlier, we might be able to also start at 11:00A or 11:30A. This way we won't interfere with family suppertimes.
