Here's an outstanding 3 part video documentary of the history of stock car racing and the early years of NASCAR.
Part 1: 1936-1949Moonshine runners are the basis for stock car racing in the early days. Part 2: 1950-1959Here comes Tim Flock and "Jocko Flocko" in their Hudson! Hudson's from 1950 to 1953 dominated stock car racing. The low floorboard (like a slot car chassis) of the Hudson gave the car a handling advantage. Part 3: 1960-1971In 1960, Junior Johnson discovers "drafting" and wins with a showroom stock chevy impala with much less horsepower than the competition. Keith
