There's been some discussion among some of the hardbody racers (specifically Gonzo and myself) concerning "foreign or international" racing cars being included in hardbody racing.
Up until now we've concentrated on American racing cars. Beginning January 2015 we're adding the GTP/Group C racing class which consists of racing cars from foreign countries as well as the USA.
Gonzo built a BRE Datsun 510 and a Mazda RX-7 earlier this year and had asked if there would ever be a racing class for foreign/international racing cars. One racing class which both of us are interested in consists of foreign racing cars such as Ferrari, Porsche, Alfa Romeo, etc. These would be the older front engine cars similar to our current 3 C's cars.
Besides the front engine cars, there are quite a few popular foreign racing cars which I'm sure some of us would like to build and race. Current day 1/1 racing has seen Australian V8 supercars, the DTM racing class in Europe , WRC cars and LMP racing.
Since we created the "Mixed" races in December 2012, we no longer have any limitations as far as racing whatever hardbody car we want. Even though we don't have a specific class for international cars yet, we can run them.
If there's enough interest in creating/adding any new racing class for international or foreign cars we'll do so when needed. Having a foreign/international racing class is only needed to establish rules and is not a requirement unless we decide to include it some day in the annual hardbody nats. For now, we can just wait and see what level of interest there is for foreign racing cars.
Any comments?
