An approved list of Foreign Production Sports cars will be posted here. Common foreign "production" sports cars will be approved. Other less common cars must be approved and included on this list to be considered legal.
"An approved list will be posted here soon", stay tuned.

In order to establish (and update) an approved body (model kit) list, we encourage D3 hardbody racers to submit any potential FPS body for approval. Until we actually see a model kit body, it's difficult to accurately determine if a model kit body is eligible for this racing class. Most "production" foreign sports cars (those we see being driven on the highways somewhat regularly) will probably be included on the approval list. In the beginning, "mid-engine" cars will not be allowed except for a few (Acura NSX?) since most of these cars are typically "exotic", expensive high performance foreign sports cars (i.e., Ferrari, Lamborghini, McLaren, racing Porsches, etc.) which are wider and lower than most typical production sports cars.
The main reason for establishing an "approved" model kit body list is to have cars which do not have a distinct advantage (width, low center of gravity, etc.) over others. In the future, we may consider having an "Exotic" car racing class, but for now, we'll limit the FPS class to typical production, street sports cars.
These are production sports cars I can think of that have been, or could be, raced. MG (A,B, Midget), Triumph (TR3, TR4, TR7, Spitfire) Austin Healey (100-6, 3000, Sprite), Lotus (Elan, Europa, 7), Jaguar (E type), TVR (Griffith), Sunbeam (Alpine, Tiger), various Alfas, Fiat (124, X-1/9), Porsche (356, 911, Boxster), SAAB (Sonett), Datsun (240-Z, SPL310, SRL311), Nissan (350-Z, 370-Z), Toyota (MR2, Scion FRS), Subaru (BRZ), Mazda (RX-7, MX-5), Honda (S800, S2000) and there are probably several more.
Don't know if limits will be set as far as years etc. that we can use. I hope we can use any of these. Of course finding models of most of these will be a problem.

Ken, this racing class is for foreign "production" sports cars. The Corvette runs in our 3 C's class which is for American 2 seater front engine sports cars. The Porsche 904 is considered a "racing" car rather than a production car and therefore is not eligible for the Foreign Production Sports class.

Although there's no decisions yet on the "approved" cars for this class, I do think that "mid-engine" cars will "probably not" be allowed since they typically are the high performance, wide, low, expensive exotic type cars. The early NSX was not necessarily expensive (like a Ferrari) but it is a mid-engine car.

Keep in mind that we do not have an approved body list yet. This class has a lot of possible eligible cars but none are official yet. It will take time to come up with an approved list since we've only seen a few model cars so far. Basically, we want to only approve car bodies which are similar in size (not significantly wider or lower) to prevent any one body becoming the body of choice for this new class.
For those who already have model kits of "possible" eligible FPS cars, we need to either see the car body or have the important dimensions (body width, front and rear tire width, height of body).
I really don't know why everyone is having problems with this string. Roger started out with some feasible choices, though some are way too small for racing, and some don't exist as models. Then we digress into lists of sedans, race cars, and exotic cars, both mid and front engine. If you read the first post it is clear what is intended, no exotics, just regular production sports cars. The intent is to stay away from the cars that will make this class another GTP class.
I've got NO PROBLEM with NOT making it another GTP type class!! The possibility of the NSX opened that door!! I'd rather stick with the basic cars and stay away from exotics. We've got enough exotic crap and WAY too many class's as it is!! I'd prefer to race EARLY nascar's and jalopies!! But no one else seems to be interested.
