Is there a certain manufacturer that is preferred for your 36D motors that are being used in your NASCAR divisions?

Matt, although we don't use the 36D motor these days like we did several years ago, we typically just used whatever stock 36D motor was available at BPR back then. I don't recall the manufacturer/reseller of the 36D's at BPR but it was a readily available motor from Eagle Distributing. When we raced the 36D motors, we typically had to modify the motor otherwise they would not last beyond a race or two. The stock 36D has a very weak, easily overheated endbell/brush assembly. In order to be competitive with a 36D several years ago, the motor had to be modified. The endbell assembly had to be replaced with a more robust, heat resistant, stronger brush assembly. The commutator needed to be trued, the motor can bearing either replaced (ball bearing) or modified to improve performance and the armature statically balanced (only using epoxy). Most of our racers are not motor builders so they had to rely on someone else to provide a modified 36D motor. Several years ago, we decided to allow sealed Falcon motors (Falcon 7 or TSR D3 motor) since they are readily available, more reliable and affordable than a modified 36D motor. It was the right decision to use these sealed motors as it has provided a level playing field as far as motor performance is concerned. The modified 36D's were not consistent in performance and the stock 36D is not reliable nor competitive. The Falcon motors have made it easy to create many different hardbody racing classes as well as provide a better handling, faster hardbody slotcar.

Hi Keith, will the first race tomorrow be inlines? I want to knock the dust off my stock 36D NASCAR and see if it's still competitive. Thanks, Jim

Jim, the first race tomorrow is the "Mixed" race for "any" D3 hardbody racing class. In other words, Inline 36D NASCARs and any other hardbody racing class is allowed in this mixed race. We use a "Lap Differential" (racing class handicap laps) to level the playing field somewhat between the different racing classes entered in this race.
