The model kits shown below are typical examples for this new racing class. Model kits must be approved for the 2018 Enduro (April 29, 2018). Our monthly hardbody races do not require approved model kit bodies.
DTM Model kits
NOTE: The Audi A4 DTM 2011 model (shown above) has several "mini" fins on the front and rear portion of the body. There are other similar DTM bodies that have these mini fins which may be a problem during the enduro (from breakage). Also, be aware that some of these kits have "multiple" piece bodies which may need add'l support to strengthen the body.
NOTE: Mercedes "C-Klasse (class) DTM cars are smaller than the typical DTM racing car. In other words, these are narrower bodied cars.
DTM cars. Opel Astra DTM by Tamiya. Probably a smaller (narrower) car.
Model kit bodies for the DTM/GTR/GT3/Super GT Enduro (April 29,2018) must be approved. Some bodies are much narrower than others. In general, the newer cars (real race cars) are wider than the older versions.

Jim, thanks for your input/feedback. If you find any other model kits that need to be approved, let me know. In particular, if you find any Super GT model kits besides the already approved Tamiya SC430, let me know.
MAN--the Revell AMG Mercedes 2009 DTM kit I have is a NIGHTMARE of small pieces to put the body together!!! It's 3" wide at the wheel wells---but I"m not sure how you'd hold the body together under impacts!! I( picked it up off of Ebay but I'm not going to build it! If anyone wants' it--it's for sale!!

The maximum chassis/tire width for this class have been revised to 3.250" (instead of 3.000" max.). In general, the DTM and older GTR cars are narrower than 3.250". The newer cars (real racing cars) are wider than the older versions.
I found the Calsonic R34 style body. Nice one piece design. I think it will build out an 3.125 wide. I'll give it a go-- wide enough to be competitive anyway. Plus, the design looks like the body can set on top of the chassis--as the side pans can be the bottom of the car along the door line. There's a black plastic flat piece in the kit that's supposed to be glued on there---but the chassis can replace that. FWIW

Marco, our rules call out "model kit" bodies, but we have allowed BRM and ScaleAuto bodies to be used for our monthly races. It's ok to use these bodies as well since they are the right scale. As long as the BRM and/or ScaleAuto bodies are within scale dimensions and do not exceed typical model kit dimensions (body width), they are ok to use. Some racers have tried using these bodies but they usually are heavier than the typical model kit bodies. If you do use a BRM or ScaleAuto body for the enduro or "Nats", they cannot be included in the "Concours" judging of those events.
Does anyone know the dimensions of the BMW Z4 and the Mercedes AMG GT3? Thanks
I am building, with Tim Hererra's help, a BMW Z4 and we have the specs on it written down in my build box. I will try and get it tonight and post here. It's the exact model KIT that is posted above ^^^ JR

Hitecca (Jim), the Tamiya AMG GT3 body is very wide (wider than 3.250"), especially at the bottom of the body. Jay Henry built one recently. In order to use this body, you have to create a chassis which mounts the body without exceeding the 3.250" max. chassis width requirement for this class. Extending body pin tube mounts beyond 3.250" is not allowed, so you need to be creative in order to mount the body and stay within the 3.250" max. chassis dimension.
