The "real" Porsche 911 car design is a classic which has evolved over time but the basic rear engine design remains intact. Perhaps one of the most successful racing car designs of all time. It's time to see if the "rear" motor concept can be applied to a slot car successfully. Check out these "rear" motor Porsche slot cars: REAR MOTOR PORSCHESKeith

Hi Keith, We met briefly yesterday at the track while I was being mentored by Mel and discussing a Tamiya ELF/Renault kit. I'm itching to get into the hobby, love the GTP cars and ordered Tamiya and Hasagawa Porsche 962C and 956 model kits to get started as Mel was saying I'll need the bodies to build the chassis' to. I saw quite a few examples of cars, want to learn and drive ASAP. Can you build or hook me up with the best guy to build me a rear engine chassis like the one depicted in your GTP example? Will the rear engine design be eligible to compete? If not, I would like to experiment with it anyway and want 2 new scratch built competition chassis' made incorporating the latest and greatest technology, balance and materials. I'm looking at Ruddock controllers, what do you think of them and their application at BPR? I'm the type that wants and believes top line gear is worth the investment and from reading the blogs and considering your stature as a veteran member I was hoping you could help me get started along with Mel and Jim who have been very welcoming. I want to order a controller, get chassis' built ASAP, and will need someone willing to paint and detail the bodies. So, if you wouldn't mind guiding me me through the process and who to contact to contract expert services, I would greatly appreciate your help. Thank you, RJ

RJR, I can build a rear motor chassis for you similar to the one I built and was raced recently by Victor D. at our recent Hardbody Nats. The rear engine design is eligible for our hardbody racing classes (except for our inline classes).
As far as controllers, I recommend the 3rd Eye "Hitman" controller. It works great and I haven't had any problems with mine. The Ruddock is a good controller (I have one myself) but I now prefer the 3rd Eye Renegade for our hardbody racing.
Keith
p.s. - I'll send you an email later today with more info on getting a chassis built.
