March's D3 Hardbody races had a very good turnout similar to last month's races.
A new racer joined in the fun this month. D3 Hardbody Racing welcomes Casper Canul. Casper will be driving in the upcoming enduro on April 15th.
The mixed race had 22 entries, so we had two races of 11 entries each. The first mixed race was for GTPs, Mid-Engine and 3 C's convertibles.
The 3 C's cars (T-Bird, Corvette) had a lap differential of 6 laps over the other entries in this race.
Jim Lane tied the existing 3 C's record for convertibles with 252 laps. Great racing by Jim.
Jay Henry and Hector Gonzalez battled each other with their tiny Mini Coopers. Jay tied the existing lap total record for Mini Coopers with 222 laps (tying Gonzo's high of 222 laps, set last year).
This was a good news/bad news for the Minis as Jay's race total equaled one set by Gonzo last year. The "Lap Differential" for Mini Coopers will go from 37 laps to 33 laps (4 laps less when racing against GTPs).
Jay Henry also won the GTP race with his new 917 with chassis by Kamo. He just edged by me at the finish. James Rogers won his very first hardbody race (Racer Handicap podium) although his 962 body was missing most of the rear portion due to a big collision during the race.
Thanks to Debby and Jim Watterson (and Eddie and Chris) for their support of D3 Hardbody Racing at Buena Park Raceway.
Thanks to our race directors: Victor Dubrowsky, Hector Gonzalez, Eddie Shorer, Keith Tanaka)
Here's the race/photo report: RACE REPORT
Gonzo announced that our Trans Am racing class will include IMSA/SCCA style pony cars. These are wider, lower trans am cars which will improve the handling of these type cars. The hardbody rules will be updated in the near future to include this new change.
The annual D3 Hardbody Enduro is Sunday, April 15th. BPR opens at 8 am, tech opens at 10 am, closes at 10:30.
