June's D3 hardbody races had a lite turnout of racers. Several regulars out of town or celebrating Father's Day a week in advance.
As usual the racing day was a lot of fun with some new cars running.
Gonzo and Mel Moon winning their podiums for the Mixed race. Gonzo drove his Opel DTM to victory while Mel Moon drove a loaner Porsche 962 to win the handicap podium.
The second race saw Gonzo win again with his very fast Toyota 88C GTP while James Rogers won the GTP handicap podium driving his Porsche 962. Congrats to all racers.
In addition to the podium finishers, we had a few new race cars venture out (at least for some practice laps). Jay Henry took some practice laps with his new Porsche 356 speedster. Cool looking car (see race report for photo).
Today's race had 3 Short Track Nascars race. Ken Dylke, Russell Van Wyck and Keith Tanaka raced their cars representing the newest D3 hardbody racing class.
Keith's car (Revell '67 Chevelle) was quick but suffered a bearing freeze in the mixed race. He returned with his repaired car in the final race of the day to show this new racing class will be quick, good handling while providing a wide variety of suitable model kits.
Thanks to Jim and Debby Watterson (and Eddie) for their support of D3 Hardbody Racing at Buena Park Raceway.
Thanks to our race director, Jim Watterson.

Next months races on Sunday, July 15th. BPR opens at 10 am, Mixed race at noon followed by the GTP/Mid-Engine/NASCAR race.
We'll take a survey at our next race to find out if we have enough interest (teams) in a "Second Chance Enduro" in November for DTM/GTR/GT3/Super GT cars.
This year's 8th D3 HARDBODY NATS will be held on Sat/Sun October 20-21, 2018. Keep in mind that this year's Nats will have 5 races with one being a "Mixed" race for classes not raced in the other 4 races.
