Each year D3 Hardbody Racing has added a new racing class, usually related to the enduro race cars run each year.
We now have 16 D3 Hardbody racing classes (including a separate mid-engine class for "Can Am" / "60's Le Mans" cars which were introduced recently but the rules have not been posted yet).
We obviously have enough different racing classes which cover most of the "real" racing classes of the past and present.
Some real racing classes have not been added since there's either a lack of a variety of model car kits available or the cars are not suitable for hardbody racing (body/chassis too easily damaged/destroyed during a race).
We're approaching the limit of hardbody racing classes, but there might be room for one more class?
A new racing class not based on any "real" racing class except it does include one category of real racing, "NASCAR trucks".
Since there's very few "NASCAR" truck model kits available, it wouldn't be a class by itself since some of the kits are of the "larger" body NASCAR trucks raced which would tend to be heavy and slow.
The new racing class would be based mainly on "utility vehicles" which for the most part are not real race cars but have plenty of different model kits available.
This new class would include "Utility" hardtop vehicles: trucks, vans, station wagons.
The trucks would include "NASCAR" trucks as well as everyday trucks from 1940-present day. There are many truck model kits when you include these type model kits.
Recently, I noticed that Hobby Lobby has a good selection of truck model kits (Revell, AMT, MPC, Monogram, Moebius) and the next Kit Collector's Expo in July (July 14th) will probably have some of these type kits at low prices.
As far as vans and station wagons, the selection of model kits is not abundant but it would be fun and interesting to see some of these type vehicles built and raced (VW bus?).
Not sure at this point, but SUVs might be included. Also, not sure about foreign vehicles such as a Datsun pick-up, Volvo 850 wagon, etc.
Obviously, this type of racing class would be strictly for fun since there's little relation to real racing (except for NASCAR trucks). Since there's a lot of different truck model kits available, it might be another fun class similar to the Short Track NASCAR class.
It's just an idea being considered by the D3 Hardbody committee (myself, Gonzo, Kenny) at this time. If any of our D3 hardbody racers has an opinion of this topic, post your opinions here.
I'll post some photos soon of model kits that would belong to this new class.

p.s. - if this becomes a new D3 racing class, a "Lap Differential" will eventually be established and might include a separate Lap Differential for trucks, vans, and station wagons.
