December's D3 Hardbody races at Buena Park Raceway had a lot of fast, close, fun racing. Hector Gonzalez became the second D3 Hardbody racer to record his "second" ever sub 5 second lap during a regular hardbody race on the BPR MTT flat track.
Victor Dubrowsky was the first to record two sub 5 laps back in early 2016. Gonzo had another 4.999 sec. lap during the GTP race.
The first race of the day had 11 entries, a lone GTR raced against 10 Short Track NASCARs. Gonzo won this race with Keith Tanaka 2nd and Tim Herrera 3rd. The "Racer Handicap" podium had Michael Kale 1st, Tim Herrera 2nd and Gonzo 3rd.
The second race of the day was a "mixed" race with 10 entries. Several "new" cars raced for the very first time during this race. Two new "Can Am" Lola T70s and two "trucks" raced for the first time.
Phil Nyland won this race with a new Can Am Lola T70. Eddie Shorer was 2nd with another Can Am Lola T70 and Victor Dubrowsky was 3rd driving a Nissan GTR. The "Racer Handicap" podium had the exact same podium.
The final race of the day was for GTPs. This is the fastest D3 Hardbody racing class. As usual, it was a very quick, closely fought race.
Hector Gonzalez recorded his second ever sub 5 sec. lap while winning this race. Phil Nyland was 2nd and Jim Lane was 3rd. The "Racer Handicap" podium had Gonzo 1st, Doug Jacks 2nd and Phil Nyland 3rd.
Thanks to Debby and Jim Watterson (and Eddie) for their support of D3 Hardbody Racing at Buena Park Raceway.
Thanks to our race directors, Victor Dubrowsky and Keith Tanaka.
