Today, Jay's family posted on Facebook that he had passed away. Jay was fighting cancer recently but kept silent about his illness among his slot racing friends.
Jay was an excellent builder/racer of D3 Hardbody racing slot cars. Without a doubt, probably the most enthusiastic slot racer at Buena Park Raceway.
Jay was vocal and thoroughly enjoyed building/racing slot cars. He made many friends wherever he ventured.
Here's a bio (Linked In website) on his professional life: Recording Engineer/Producer/Executive Consultant/Audio Educator
This three time Grammy nominated recording engineer/producer and audio educator has worked for more than 37 years with major recording artists and labels. With more that 80 gold and platinum albums and awards his work includes albums for Universal, MCA, Warner Bros., Columbia, CBS, Epic and Arista. Has worked on projects with Prince, Living Colour, LL Cool J, Heavy-D, Teddy Riley, Shannon, Bell Biv Devoe, and Public Enemy.
Has produced work product that consistently appeared in the top of the record charts (Top Pop 100, Hot Singles, R&B Albums and Singles) of Billboard Magazine. Credits include more than 80 Gold and Platinum records.
He is a voting member of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, and a founding member of the Latin Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences.
Recognized by MARQUIS' Who's Who. His biography appears in the:
First, Second, and Third Editions, of Who's Who in Entertainment, and his work has been inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
Here's a video clip of Jay racing retro cars at BPR with Haruki Kan of Japan and fellow hardbody racer, Eddie Shorer. These three racers definitely use a lot of "english" driving their cars.
