Sunday's D3 Hardbody races at Buena Park Raceway provided an extra race day since our regularly scheduled race last Sunday was cancelled due to a very lite turnout of racers. It was Father's Day last Sunday and the reopening of Electric Dreams with a swap meet attracted a very large crowd (including some of our hardbody racers).
Dennis Samson brought many of Jay Henry's hardbody slot car collection for our racers to see/buy today. The collection is being sold by Jay's family and some of our racers did buy some cars to help out Jay's family. Thanks to Dennis for helping out Jay's family.
The first race of the day was for GTPs. This is the fastest D3 Hardbody racing class at BPR as well as the best handling cars on the BPR MTT flat track.
Jim Lane showed the way by winning with Phil Nyland 2nd and Hector Gonzalez 3rd. The "Racer Handicap" podium had Jim 1st, Doug Jacks 2nd and Phil 3rd.
The second race was a "Mixed" race for any D3 hardbody racing class (except GTPs).
Phil Nyland won the "Lap Differential" race driving an Under 2 Liter Trans Am Mini Cooper with Jim Lane 2nd (NASCAR) and Dennis Samson 3rd (Short Track NASCAR).
The "Racer Handicap" podium had Russell Van Wyck 1st, Phil 2nd and Dennis 3rd. This was Russell's very first podium win ever and was well deserved. Russell is one of our original D3 Hardbody racers who started racing D3 hardbodies at BPR in 2007.
Thanks to Jim Watterson (and Eddie) for supporting D3 Hardbody Racing at Buena Park Raceway.
Thanks to our race director, Victor Dubrowsky.

The next D3 Hardbody races at BPR, Sunday, July18th. BPR Opens at 10 am, GTP race at noon sharp followed by the Mixed race after a lunch break.
