Recently, Roger U. showed me a chart he made of how the heats (16) of the enduro would have an uneven number of heats driven by each racer (assuming 3 per team).
Also, no one would drive all 8 lanes during the enduro (1 would drive 6 lanes, 2 would drive 5 lanes).
At the time, I told Roger that we would stay with 15 minute heats and the same driver rotation thruout the enduro.
I've noticed some racers kind of cringe when they found out each heat would be 15 minutes in length. 15 minutes doesn't sound too long, but compared to our monthly races which are 3 minute heats, that significantly longer.
Due to our older, less agile racers, some may experience some physical discomfort during their 15 minute heats. Perhaps its time (before we start the enduro) to maybe change how long each heat will be and also try to have each racer run all 8 lanes during the enduro?
Here's an idea (strictly for discussion at this time), how about shorter heats, 10 minutes instead of 15?
10 minutes per heat might be more comfortable for some racers.
An added benefit would be this: If each team has 3 racers, every team member would drive all 8 lanes during the enduro. This would eliminate any advantage to any team as far as "gaming" the driver rotation to their benefit.
Disadvantages: more lane changes over 4 hours. Enduro would run longer due to the added 1 minute between heats (8 more minutes between heats total). Less time for team members to get a quick lunch during each heat.
I personally like the idea of 10 minute heats to insure all 3 team members drive each lane during the 4 hour enduro (eliminates any team advantage due to their driver rotation).
What do you think?
