I need to replace my '53 Corvette for the new year, so I decided to build a car which I've always wanted to race, a Cobra. It's a Revell 1/24 Cobra. As with all Cobras, it's narrow and has a shorter wheelbase than other 3 C cars. Here's photos of my new car. I can't wait to try it out on the flat track this Sunday after visiting the Model Kit Show. Total weight of this new Cobra is 148 grams which is lightweight compared to my other hardbody cars. Keith

As I posted last night, the '53 Corvette and AAR Cuda bodies may not be banned next year. It depends on how the hardbody racers vote this coming Sunday at our monthly races. We have a way of leveling the playing field and allowing these "wider" car bodies to be used with all the other legal bodies.
Since I built a new Cobra to replace my '53 vette, I decided to try it out yesterday at BPR.
The Cobra is fast. The lap times on the Red, Blue and Black lanes were similar to what my '53 vette does. The new Cobra however is not as stable as the vette. The Vette is glued to the track, whereas the Cobra while being fast cannot be pushed as hard as the vette without deslotting. This car did 231 laps in our November race which is about 11 laps slower than my best lap total with the '53 Vette. I think the performance of this new Cobra is similar to Paul's Cobra Daytona. Update: the Cobra did 237 laps in the December race and is now only 5 laps less than the '53 Vette.
Although we may retain the '53 vette and AAR Cuda with some new rules, I did prove to myself that you can build a competitive Cobra regardless. I'm pleasantly surprised about this as it motivates me to try and build other "smaller/narrower" cars in the future.

Well Keith--the Camaro's also in that class went 1 2 at the Nats as well. Granted--we didn't have to chase Sterret's Cuda because he pulled out. But I don't think wider is necessarily faster in these cars!! FWIW
