Some enduro model kits have car bodies which have a flat bottom piece (chassis) which is as wide as the bottom portion of the wheel wells. This type of car body is allowed to have chassis side pans (or flat pan chassis) replace this flat bottom piece. Typically, these type of cars are taller than others and the body to tire clearance is excessive. Using side pans (or pan chassis) will be allowed in place of the flat bottom piece of these type model cars, but the exposed side pans (or pan chassis) must be painted similar to the model kit or real car. Also, car bodies that have door panels can also trim the bottom of the body to within 1/8" of the bottom of the door panel.
I'll post some photos of these type cars soon to better show what the bottom side piece of these cars looks like. Some enduro cars have a side channel on the side and bottom portion of the body. These type cars must retain the "channel" piece to resemble the real car.
Confusing? The photos (to be posted soon) will better explain what the bottom side piece is and what can be substituted for the model kit bottom piece.

Good call Keith. That will help bring more bodies into play.

Here are some examples of the car body "bottom" sides with examples of replacing the model kit piece with chassis side pans. Model kit bottom piece shown above. Bottom piece replaced with chassis side pan (or pan chassis). Another car body with bottom piece replaced with side pan (or pan chassis). Close-up view of chassis side pan (replacing model kit bottom piece). Another model kit body with a "channel" side piece at the bottom of the body. The "channel" side piece must be retained. You can have the chassis side pan (or pan chassis) underneath the channel, but cannot remove the channel piece.

For those models which do not have this feature, you cannot have exposed side pans (or pan chassis exposed) when viewed from above the car.
