The 5th Sunday in August provided an extra race day for D3 Hardbody racing at Buena Park Raceway.
A good turnout of hardbody racers included two new racers (Sebastian Moran and Jim La Barba).
A new fast lap was recorded in the GTP race.
The first race of the day was for GTPs and Mid-Engine cars.
A fast, fun race as usual with Keith Tanaka taking first driving the car which "Gonzo" built for a video tutorial (available soon) on how to build his pan articulating chassis.
Second was Gonzo (Hector Gonzalez) and third was Phil Nyland. The "Racer Handicap" podium had Keith first, Luke Grotano 2nd and Gonzo 3rd. Keith also recorded the fastest lap for a D3 hardbody car with a 4.889 sec. lap. The previous fastest laps were in the 4.9's.
The second race was a "MIxed" race for any D3 hardbody racing class (except GTPs). The Lap Differential podium had Keith first driving a Trans Am Firebird with Gonzo 2nd driving a '49 Ford Short Track and Phil Nyland 3rd driving a Can Am McLaren M8B. The Racer Handicap podium had Ken Dylke first (Audi R8), Keith 2nd and Michael Kale 3rd (Can Am Lola T70). By the way, these three racers happen to be "Team Rolling Hills" for enduro races.
Thanks to Jim Watterson (and Eddie) for their support of D3 Hardbody Racing at BPR.
Thanks to our race directors: Jim Lane, Gonzo, Tim Herrera, Michael Kale and Keith Tanaka.
Here's the race/photo report: RACE REPORT
The next D3 Hardbody races on Sunday, Sept. 19th at BPR. Track opens at 10 am, GTP race at noon followed by a quick lunch and then the Mixed race.
On the 5th Sunday in October (31st), we'll have a demo race (2nd race of the day) for RTR 1/32 hardbody cars (any car class and can use foam tires but no other changes are required).
The cars would be the typical 1/32 cars the Farrout club uses for their home club races. More info to follow, stay tuned.
