Ok Sunday PM, I'll bring some sanding cloths. That paint does look nasty in the close ups. It might be a problem for decals without a clear coat.

Sorry I cannot make it this Sunday for practice. Got a game at 1. Finished the modifications to the chassis on the 56 Chevy using the piano wire method you detailed and I am pleased with the results. Thanks for the valuable information and coaching. Anxious to see how it runs as up to now it has been a disappointment. It handled poorly and was very slow. Been working on a new 3C; a 57 Corvette. Been working on the project for over a month now and I am assembling the chassis now using the same method you detailed. Expect to have it done for the races on the 17th. Keep posting your building tips as they are great.

I tested the Hudson (Sunday) on the BPR Flat track and it handled very similar to my other 50's cars ('50 Olds, '51 Chevy). The lap times were also very close to the Olds and Chevy. The Hudson was a bit noisy so I will replace the hard front tires with regular foam tires to eliminate most of the noise. All 3 50's cars have lap times similar to my stock 36D Matador. I think this new class ('46-'56) of cars will provide an opportunity for all to build these older NASCARs without giving up performance compared to the stock 36D NASCARs. Of course, it will also keep the 36D cars viable. If you prefer to build and race the 36D versions, you can continue to do so and not feel that the newer Falcon II cars have a speed advantage. Keith

I finally finished painting and decaling the Hudson. I was able to sand the orange peel away and repaint the blue color. Thanks to Craig for letting me borrow some 2400 and 3200 sandpaper. Here's some photos of the finished car. I still have to do the interior, but it's ready to race this Sunday! "Jocko Flocko" was the name of the rhesus monkey which rode with Tim Flock in 8 NASCAR races in 1953. Here's Jocko Flocko. Jocko was a publicity stunt but rode in 8 of Tim Flock's NASCAR races. Besides have a racing uniform, he had a specially made seat in the car. Jocko was aboard when Tim won a Grand National race in '53 (Hickory Motor Speedway). By the way, Tim Flock still has the NASCAR record for 19 pole positions in one year. He also won 18 races in 1955 which was the NASCAR record until Richard Petty won more in 1967. Keith

Hey Keith this came out really good, even after the problems you had with the paint. the color matches up very well. Looks awsome. I just started the chassis for the '56 Ford. See you Sunday!!
