I was reminded this past Sunday that at our last drivers meeting (November monthly race), besides allowing the '53 Corvette to race, newer cars such as the Viper and newer Corvettes would also be allowed to race in this "handicap" racing class. Any American two seater, front engine sports car from 1950 to present would be allowed to race in this "racer handicap" class.Keith

I just posted the revised D3 Hardbody rules at the socald3.com website. If there are any errors or omissions to these revised rules, please let me know. Keith

In my opinion I feel we should be able to use any of the American sedans available from that time period, even in our Nats. As you say they were probably all raced at sometime, somewhere during those days. For now I plan on using a 50 Oldsmobile, which was raced back then, but may come up with something else in the future. Roger, I've been researching NASCAR races from '46-'56 and so far it seems that the model kits currently available most likely raced in NASCAR. You can probably use any American stock car model kit for our races. Interestingly, I found out that in 1954, Jaguar won a special NASCAR race held at Linden Airport in New Jersey. This particular race had 11 Jaguar XK120's entered as well as Austin Healys, MGs, a Porsche and a Morgan. Here's a link to the 1954 race: espn.go.com/racing/raceresults/_/series/sprint/raceId/195406130141Maybe someday we can have a race to replicate this historic NASCAR race in 1954. Keith

Sadly--combining the 46 all the way to 79 bodies will mean a VERY competitive advantage for the later bodied cars!!! The weight of the 46 to 56 cars is significantly higher AND with a MUCH higher CG overall!! That will ELIMINATE the older bodies once the newer ones are built. Just take a close look at the 64 GTO for example---at least %30 lighter overall--and probably %30 lower CG overall!!! Guess I'll shelve my older bodies for now---unless we change back to a "46 to 56" body class!! Too bad--I've got 2 bodies already painted and ready to go---but can't see trying to compete with the later bodies.
