At our recent 2018 Enduro, I announced a new D3 hardbody racing class which will become official soon (sometime this week). This new racing class is called "Short Track NASCAR".
This new racing class will be the cars running in next year's hardbody enduro (April 2019).
The official rules for this new class will be posted on this blog later this week.
Here are the preliminary basic rules for this new class:
This new class is based on 1/1 short track cars that are raced thruout the USA. This 1/1 class is very popular at the short tracks all over America.
1950-1979 American passenger car bodies (1/24 or 1/25 model kit bodies). Passenger cars with front and rear seats (only driver req'd), 2 door or 4 door versions (no two seater cars allowed, i.e., 3 C's cars not allowed).
Windows (windshield, rear, side windows) are optional as the real cars sometimes do not use them.
Body wheel wells can be cutout to the top of the body to allow front and rear tires to extend beyond the body.
Chassis width limited to body side panel width and cannot exceed 3.250". Side panels cannot extend beyond vertical.
Front and rear tire width is 3.250" maximum.
Front tire diameter is .950" minimum, rear tire diameter is 1.000" minimum.
Front tires must be wide enough to hide underlying chassis (might need to use wider front tires to meet this requirement).
Note: BPR can now stock wider front tires (ProStock) that are .400" wide.
Front and rear bumper protectors (made of brass and or piano wire) will be allowed. These are external to the cars front and rear bumpers. These bumpers are similar to our Jalopy class.
At this time, no side bumpers will be allowed.
The official rules for this new D3 racing class will be posted later this week. You will be able to race this new class at our next monthly races, Sunday May 20th.
